Built for fun. Built to win. The updated YZ85 serves up big-bike specs in a small-bike package.
Features may include:
ENGINEThe 85cc liquid-cooled, two-stroke engine features the Yamaha Power Valve System for broad power across the rev range without losing peak power at high rpms—improving rideability and reducing the need for frequent shifting.
The crankcase design features a spacer-style reed valve intake for improved air/fuel flow, which inhales through a 28mm Hitachi Astemo® Keihin flat-slide carburetor for seamless throttle response.
Carefully matched to suit the YPVS™-equipped engine, the exhaust expansion chamber optimizes gas flow for enhanced power delivery, especially in the low- and mid-range.
CHASSIS/SUSPENSIONThe lightweight 36mm KYB® inverted cartridge fork features 10.8 inches of travel with compression and rebound damping adjustability. Complete with low-friction outer tubes and internals, the damping settings offer enhanced performance across a range of conditions and rider abilities.
RRear suspension features fully adjustable KYB® link-type shock with race-tested valving and 11.1 inches of travel. The progressive linkage-type design improves bottoming resistance, allowing racers to charge harder and improve lap times.
The YZ85 has been enhanced in several key chassis areas to optimize strength and rigidity. Enhancements include the main frame, swingarm and rear wheel axle. The aluminum swingarm was redesigned to refine balance between longitudinal and torsional rigidity for improved handling stability. A new removable rear subframe constructed from lightweight, high-strength aluminum reduces weight.
ADDITIONALThe four-position adjustable handlebar mounts and taper-style handlebar allow the rider to tune the handlebar position to suit their size and preferences. New flat seat and narrow fuel tank design, along with smoothly integrated body panels and slimmer shroud width, combine to enable greater freedom of movement for increased control and confidence.
